Bonds Rewards Digital Wallet Case Study

Bonds rewards card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet

Bonds puts points, vouchers and member identification in the mobile wallet for smoother checkout and push notification content delivery.

Bonds is a flagship brand within Hanes Australasia, alongside Bras N Things, Berlei and Sheridan, with the wider portfolio sold through approximately 500 physical and online stores. Supporting Bonds Rewards positions Litecard as enterprise mobile wallet infrastructure for a large omnichannel apparel and loyalty ecosystem.

Bonds Rewards is the refreshed loyalty program previously known as Bonds & Me.

Members earn one point for every dollar spent and can convert 100 points into a $5 Bonds Bucks voucher. The program also includes a welcome benefit, anniversary reward, free shipping, free returns and member-only deals.

Litecard gives members a digital Bonds Rewards card that can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

The challenge

Bonds serves customers across underwear, clothing, sleepwear, socks, kids and baby categories. These are repeat-purchase categories, making reliable customer identification important to the performance of the loyalty program.

The loyalty experience also spans ecommerce, full-price stores and outlet locations. Members need a consistent way to access their account and identify themselves regardless of where they shop.

Bonds needed to connect the mobile experience to Retail Directions POS and the customer communications managed through Dotdigital.

The Litecard solution

The Bonds Rewards digital card displays the member’s points balance and available voucher balance. Customers can scan the card in-store to identify themselves and receive relevant reminders about their rewards or account activity.

Dotdigital supports the distribution and communication journey, while Retail Directions remains the point-of-sale environment used for in-store member recognition.

Litecard gives Bonds a mobile loyalty layer without requiring customers to download and regularly open a dedicated app.

What Bonds has done well

Bonds has created a dedicated Rewards page that explains how points, vouchers and wallet identification work.

It also gives members a clear incentive to adopt the digital card. Customers receive a one-off 50-point bonus the first time they download the pass, equal to half the points required for a $5 voucher. The download is available directly through the customer’s online account dashboard.

The page also explains the difference between automatic and manually activated rewards, helping customers understand how to bank or redeem their points.

Why mobile wallet loyalty matters for apparel merchants

Apparel and fashion merchants are well suited to loyalty because purchases repeat across seasons, life stages and household members.

The mobile wallet makes the customer easier to identify at checkout and keeps their points and vouchers visible. For Bonds, that creates a stronger connection between everyday store purchases, ecommerce behaviour and ongoing customer communication.
